At the heart of the gun is FN's short-stroke gas piston system paired with an adjustable low-flash gas regulator, which keeps the action running cleaner and cooler than direct impingement designs. The bolt carrier was reworked specifically for the pistol-length gas system, and the result is noticeably soft shooting for a 7.5 inch 5.56. The dual charging handles are non-reciprocating and can be swapped to either side, so they stay put under fire and even double as hand stops. Combine that with the ambidextrous safety and magazine release, and lefties get treated just as well as everyone else.
The 7.5 inch barrel is cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, and free-floated, which is why these little guns shoot better than their size suggests. It comes threaded 1/2×28 with a three-prong flash hider installed, ready for your muzzle device of choice. The hard-anodized monolithic aluminum upper gives you a rigid, continuous optics rail up top plus MIL-STD-1913 rail sections at four positions for lights, lasers, and accessories. Around back, a vertical Picatinny rail with a QD sling cup makes attaching a single-point sling quick and simple.
