The Faxon Match Series 20" Heavy Fluted barrel takes the guesswork out of building an accurate .308 Win AR-10. Faxon machines these in-house from 416-R stainless steel, the same grade used across serious precision barrels, then finishes them with 5R button rifling and a 1:10 twist that stabilizes the wide spread of .308 bullet weights most people run, from lighter varmint loads up to heavier 175-grain match projectiles. The result is a barrel that feels equally at home on the bench, in a match, or out in the field.
5R rifling is the standout here. The lands sit opposite the grooves with less aggressive angles, which cuts down on jacket deformation, helps velocity stay consistent, and makes cleaning noticeably easier than traditional rifling. The heavy fluted profile trims some weight while keeping the barrel stiff, and those flutes add surface area that helps shed heat when you start stacking rounds. Every barrel goes through magnetic particle inspection and air gauge checks to confirm bore uniformity and material integrity before it ships.
Inside and out, the barrel wears a salt bath nitride (QPQ) finish that boosts corrosion resistance and wear life while helping keep fouling in check. The barrel extension is DPMS LR-308 pattern and coated in nickel Teflon, which adds dry lubricity and tightens up the fit at the receiver for reliable lockup. Up front you get a recessed 11-degree target crown to protect accuracy at the muzzle, a 5/8×24 muzzle thread ready for your brake or suppressor, and a .750" gas block journal running a 1.1" rifle-length gas system for a smooth, tunable impulse.

It uses a DPMS LR-308 compatible barrel extension, so it drops into DPMS/LR-308 pattern uppers. Matching your bolt to the barrel extension is the key thing to get right.
The 1:10 twist is a versatile choice for .308 Win and stabilizes the majority of factory and match loads you'll come across. It handles common 168 and 175-grain match bullets well while still shooting lighter weights nicely. For most competition and target use, it covers the range you'd want out of a .308.

The Match Series is still air gauge inspected and magnetic particle inspected, and it uses 416-R stainless with 5R button rifling and QPQ nitride inside and out.
