The extractor is machined from solid bar stock PH 13-8 stainless steel and heat-treated to maintain optimal tension without chipping or breaking. Unlike extractors that lose their grip over time, this part holds tension through thousands of rounds because of its superior material composition and specially heat-treated construction. The hook design maximizes contact with the case rim while corner radius work promotes smooth feeding. This stractor includes a plunger retainer stud machined into the body, which distinguishes it from Series 70 models and holds the firing pin safety plunger in place on Colt-style Series 80 slides. You can run either .38 Super or 9mm through the same gun by swapping barrels and recoil springs, and this extractor handles both calibers equally well.
Wilson Combat extractors typically require minimal fitting. Some guns drop right in with only final tensioning needed, though individual frame and slide tolerances between manufacturers mean minor fitting might be necessary. This extractor will work in all Series 70 guns too, but Series 70 extractors won't work in Series 80 platforms. Kimber Series II accepts either design, while Springfield Armory 1911s are Series 70.
