The SDX12 runs Hatsan's SMART Valve Piston system, which is mounted directly around the barrel rather than through a traditional gas tube running below it. This self-regulating design cycles everything from 7/8 oz light target loads all the way up to 2 oz magnum rounds in both 2-3/4" and 3" chambers, and it does it without any manual adjustment. You can even mix load weights in the same magazine and the gun keeps running. The ThermoDefend forend wraps the barrel area to pull heat away during extended sessions, which is a genuinely practical feature on a platform people actually run hard.
The receiver is aircraft alloy with a black anodized finish and an integrated Picatinny rail on top.
