There's a reason more turkey hunters are leaving the 12 gauge at home these days. Modern turkey loads have made the 20 gauge a legitimate gobbler-stopper, and the Escort PS Turkey is built to take full advantage. At roughly 6.2 pounds, this semi-auto carries easy on long walks to the roost and swings fast when a bird hangs up just inside range. The gas-driven action with Escort's SMART valve piston system cycles reliably while soaking up recoil, which makes it a great pick for younger hunters and anyone who'd rather not get punished by heavy turkey loads.
The 22 inch barrel is chrome plated inside to fight off corrosion, and the whole gun wears full-coverage Realtree Timber camo so you disappear against hardwoods and river bottoms. Up top you get a windage-adjustable red fiber optic front sight paired with a green fiber optic rear that adjusts for both windage and elevation, so you can dial your point of impact to your pattern instead of guessing. Prefer glass? The grooved aluminum alloy receiver accepts a 5 inch cantilever Weaver rail for mounting a red dot, which is how a lot of folks set these up.
Escort includes three choke tubes with this one: an Extended Turkey for tight patterns at distance, plus Improved Modified and Full so the gun pulls double duty on doves, squirrels, or clays in the off-season. The synthetic stock is adjustable for a personalized fit, with checkered grip surfaces, a rubber butt pad, and sling studs already in place. Capacity is 4+1 with a 3 inch chamber, and the crossbolt safety sits right where your trigger finger expects it.
This gun does the important things well: it's light, it points naturally, it patterns tight with the right load, and it doesn't beat you up. For a purpose-built 20 gauge turkey rig that's ready to hunt out of the box, the PS Turkey is tough to overlook.
Yes. The grooved aluminum receiver accepts a 5 inch cantilever Weaver-style rail, so mounting a red dot or small optic is straightforward. Plenty of hunters run these with a red dot for turkey season, and the fiber optic sights work great as a backup or on their own.
Absolutely. Modern TSS and heavy turkey loads have closed the gap with the 12 gauge, delivering dense, lethal patterns well past typical turkey distances. You get noticeably less recoil and a lighter gun to carry, which is exactly why the 20 gauge turkey setup has gotten so popular.
It ships with three chokes: an Extended Turkey tube for tight long-range patterns, plus Improved Modified and Full. That trio lets you run it as a dedicated turkey gun in the spring and swap tubes for doves, small game, or clays the rest of the year.
It's one of the better options out there for that. At around 6.2 pounds with a gas system that softens recoil, it's comfortable for youth and smaller-framed hunters to shoot and carry. The adjustable stock also helps you fine-tune the fit as a young hunter grows.
