The Ergo Tactical Deluxe is a bigger, rounder take on the classic Ergo pistol grip, and it exists for one reason: to fill your hand and give you a rock solid hold on your AR. Where a lot of factory grips leave your fingernails digging into your palm, this one wraps up into the web of your hand and finger grooves so the rifle feels like an extension of your arm. It fits AR-15 and AR-10 platforms chambered in .223/5.56 and .308, so it works across most of the black rifles in the safe.
The whole grip is overmolded in Ergo's SureGrip rubber with a heavy, aggressive texture. That rubber gives you real traction without feeling squishy, and it holds up when your hands are sweaty, when it's raining, or when you're running gloves. It's also built to shrug off oils and solvents, so a little Hoppe's on your fingers during a cleaning session won't make it slick. Underneath the rubber is a rigid internal core that keeps the grip stiff and stable, which is a nice upgrade over the older skeleton-free Ergo designs.
This is where being straight matters: the Tactical Deluxe is a handful. Ambidextrous palm swells on both sides make it comfortable for lefties and righties alike, and folks with medium to large mitts tend to love how it fills the palm. If you wear large or XL gloves, this is likely the grip you've been chasing. People with smaller hands sometimes find it on the big side, so keep that in mind when you're choosing.
Installation is a straightforward drop-in that uses the standard grip mounting screw and washer. A 3/16 wrench makes the job easy, and it drops right in where your factory A2 grip lived. Worth noting this grip does not include a bottom plug, so if you want to seal off the cavity you'll need to grab one separately.
Yes. It's designed for AR-15/M16 and AR-10 type lowers chambered in .223/5.56 and .308, so it covers most standard AR platform builds. It drops right into the same spot as your factory A2 grip and uses the standard grip mounting hardware.
The Tactical Deluxe is larger and rounder than the original Ergo grip, and it fits medium to large hands best. Plenty of folks with average-sized hands still find it comfortable and love how it fills the palm, but if you have notably small hands it may feel like a lot of grip. If you buy large or XL gloves, this one is right in your wheelhouse.
No, this grip does not include a bottom cavity plug. If you want to seal off the bottom of the grip, you can pick up a compatible plug separately. It does come with the installation hardware you need to mount it.
The overmolded SureGrip rubber has a heavy texture that keeps a positive hold in wet, cold, or sweaty conditions, and it works well with or without gloves. It's firm rather than squishy, so you get solid traction without the grip shifting in your hand. It's also built to resist oils and solvents, so cleaning-day residue won't make it slick.
