Pull the front half off and you've got a 3.7 inch, 2.45 ounce can with four K-baffles that keeps a pistol or backpacking rifle compact. Thread it back on and you're running the full 6.5 inch, 8-baffle configuration that gets a .22LR about as quiet as the platform allows. No special tools needed either way, just the included wrench or any 13/16 inch wrench on the flats machined into the mount and end cap.
Every component of the NYX Mod 2 is machined in the US from DFAR certified 6Al-4V Grade 5 titanium, including the baffles and the 1/2×28 direct thread mount. The patented webbed outer tube borrows from aerospace design to shave weight without giving up strength, which is how Energetic managed to keep the full configuration at just 4.15 ounces. That titanium construction pays off at cleaning time too. Rimfire ammo is filthy, and a .22 can needs a scrub every 500 to 1,000 rounds. Because titanium is chemically inert, you can soak this one in aggressive solvents that would eat an aluminum suppressor alive. Both end caps come off by hand tools for easy access to the internals.
While .22LR is the obvious home for the NYX Mod 2, it's also rated for .22 WMR, .17 HMR, and the zippy FN 5.7x28mm, plus full-auto use with .22LR. That flexibility means one stamp covers your plinker, your magnum squirrel rifle, and a 5.7 pistol.
This version wears a Graphite Black high-temp Cerakote finish over the titanium for a low-profile look that matches most modern rifles and pistols.
