Built by Pietta and patterned after the Colt Model 1878, this 12 gauge side-by-side runs the way coach guns did back when they rode shotgun for a living. You get true external hammers, double triggers with the front trigger firing the right barrel and the rear firing the left, and a compact 20 inch barrel set that swings fast and carries easy.
The metalwork is polished and blued from muzzle to buttplate, with case-colored hammers adding a touch of period flavor against the flat steel receiver. The stock is walnut in a traditional field pattern with a round-knob grip, and a gold bead up front keeps your eye where it belongs. Pietta also added a sliding tang safety, a practical touch borrowed from later hammerless designs, and the hammers sit at a height where you can cock both in one sweep of the thumb. Chambers accept shells up to 2.75 inches, and manual extractors lift your hulls for easy plucking, just like the originals.
