The Faxon Duty Series 14.5" Gunner barrel is one of those parts that quietly makes a build feel right. The Gunner profile is Faxon's take on the perfect middle ground, keeping the familiar Government taper from the extension back to the gas block journal, then thinning out to a pencil contour up front. That means the weight stays near the receiver where it does the most good, so the rifle points quick and stays lively in your hands instead of feeling nose-heavy after a few mags.
It's cut from 4150 CMV steel and button rifled with a 1:8 twist, which is the sweet spot for 5.56 NATO and .223. That twist happily stabilizes everything from lighter varmint loads up through heavier match bullets, so you're not boxed into one type of ammo. Inside and out, the barrel wears a black nitride (QPQ) finish that shrugs off corrosion and wipes clean with almost no effort.

No, this standard version ships as the bare barrel only, so you'll need to add a low-profile gas block sized for the .625" journal along with your gas tube. If you'd rather skip the alignment work, Faxon also offers a separate version of this barrel that comes with a factory-pinned gas block.
The 14.5" length is a favorite for pin-and-weld builds, where a muzzle device is permanently attached to reach a 16" overall length while keeping the barrel itself short. It trims a little weight and length off the front end for handier maneuvering. The mid-length gas system on this barrel keeps things running smooth even at that shorter length.
The Gunner is a hybrid that keeps the thicker Government taper near the chamber for heat resistance and rigidity, then switches to a slim pencil contour out front.
