The Hound H635R is DNT's flagship handheld thermal, and it earns the title. At its heart is a 640×512 uncooled sensor with 12 micron pixel pitch and an ≤18 mK NETD rating, which is a fancy way of saying it picks up tiny heat differences and paints a clean, high-contrast image even when conditions fight you. Pair that with a 35mm germanium objective, a 50Hz refresh rate, and a sharp 1024×768 Micro-OLED display, and you get smooth, detailed viewing whether a hog is standing still or trotting across a field.
The big story here is the integrated 5 to 1,200 yard laser rangefinder working alongside an onboard ballistic calculator. Range an animal and the unit gives you the holdover information you need, so one device does the job you'd normally split between a rangefinder and a separate ballistic app. Magnification runs 2x base with digital zoom up to 8x, giving you room to scan wide and then push in for a closer look without hauling extra glass.
This thing is genuinely small. It tips the scale right around 10.93 ounces and measures about 6.2 by 2.2 by 2.8 inches, so it disappears into a coat pocket or pack. The housing carries an IP67 rating, meaning it shrugs off dust, rain, and the kind of weather that comes with a long sit. Power comes from a common flat-top 18650 rechargeable battery that swaps out in seconds, with roughly 5 hours of runtime per cell and USB-C external power if you want to keep going.
You get 32GB of built-in storage for photos and video with audio, plus multiple color palettes to match the terrain and your eyes. Built-in WiFi ties into the DNT app so you can stream to your phone, use it as a bigger screen, or pull footage off for later. It's a simple, intuitive control layout that doesn't make you dig through menus when the moment counts.
Yes. The Hound H635R includes an integrated laser rangefinder that reaches from 5 out to 1,200 yards. It works alongside the onboard ballistic calculator, so once you range a target the unit gives you the holdover information for your setup.
Absolutely. The unit has 32GB of internal storage for photos and video with audio, plus built-in WiFi that connects to the DNT app. You can stream to your phone, use it as a larger viewing screen, and transfer your files off the device.
It runs on a common flat-top 18650 rechargeable li-ion battery that offers roughly 5 hours of runtime per cell. Because it's a non-proprietary cell, you can carry spares and swap them in seconds in the field. It also accepts USB-C external power if you want to run longer.
It carries an IP67 rating, which means the housing resists dust and water. That makes it dependable in rain, heavy dew, and dirty, rugged terrain. At under 11 ounces it's also light enough to keep on you all day without a second thought.
