There's something about an OD Green AR pistol that just looks right, and Diamondback nailed the finish on this DB15. Underneath the Cerakote is a legitimately well-spec'd build from a company that's been machining its own barrels and receivers in Cocoa, Florida since 2009. At 23 inches collapsed and 5.4 pounds, this is the kind of gun that lives comfortably behind the truck seat, in a backpack, or staged for home defense where a full-size carbine feels like too much.
The 7 inch barrel is one of Diamondback's own, a heavy-profile 4150 chrome moly vanadium tube with a black nitride treatment and a 1:8 twist that stabilizes everything from 55 grain plinking ammo up through heavier 77 grain loads. It runs a pistol-length direct impingement gas system and wears an A2 flash hider on standard 1/2×28 threads, so swapping to a linear comp or blast diverter down the road is a five minute job. The bolt carrier is shot-peened, magnetic particle inspected 8620 steel, which is the same inspection process you'd expect on guns costing quite a bit more. Both receivers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum, and the flattop upper is T-marked for repeatable optic mounting.
Diamondback didn't cheap out on the furniture. You get a genuine SB Tactical SBA3 brace with five adjustment positions, a Magpul MOE grip, and a 30-round Gen M2 PMAG in the box. The 6 inch M-LOK handguard leaves the barrel mostly exposed for that classic short AR look while still giving you room for a light and a hand stop. There are no sights included, which suits this platform fine since most folks are running a red dot on a build like this anyway.
Short 5.56 guns are all about handling, and this one moves fast through doorways and tight spaces in a way a 16 inch rifle never will.
