At 23 inches overall and right around 5.1 pounds, this FDE Cerakote model is about as compact as the platform gets while still running standard AR-15 controls, magazines, and parts. Diamondback builds these in Cocoa, Florida, and the spec sheet reads better than you'd expect at this end of the market.
The heart of it is a 7 inch heavy-profile barrel made from 4150 Chrome-Moly Vanadium steel with a black nitride finish inside and out, which resists wear and cleans up fast. The 1:8 right-hand twist stabilizes a wide spread of bullet weights, so you're not locked into one flavor of 5.56 or .223. A pistol-length gas system keeps the short barrel cycling, and the muzzle wears a standard A2 flash hider on 1/2×28 threads, so swapping muzzle devices later is simple. The bolt carrier is a shot-peened, magnetic particle inspected Mil-Spec 8620 unit riding in forged 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers. That's the same receiver forging material you'll find on guns costing quite a bit more.
Up front you get a 6 inch free-float M-LOK handguard with room for a light or hand stop, and the Magpul MOE grip fills the hand nicely. The buffer tube comes wrapped in a foam pad for a comfortable cheek reference, and a 30 round Gen 2 PMAG ships in the box. The flattop upper is bare on purpose. There are no sights, so plan on adding a red dot, which is really the natural pairing for a gun like this anyway.
