Mag-fed shotguns have come a long way, and the Derya DY12 is proof. This is a gas-operated 12 gauge semi-auto built around forged 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers, the same alloy you find on quality AR-15s. If you already run an AR, the controls and layout will feel like home from the first magazine. The adjustable mil-spec stock and pistol grip mean you can set the fit for your build and shooting style instead of adapting yourself to the gun, and since the grip is AR adaptable, swapping to your favorite aftermarket option is a simple job.
The 20-inch smooth bore barrel wears a threaded muzzle and runs on a mobile choke system, with Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full tubes included. That gives you real flexibility, tighten up patterns for longer shots or open things up for close work. The 3-inch chamber digests both 2-3/4 and 3-inch shells, and Derya includes a heavy piston in the package so you can tune the gas system to heavier loads. Flip-up front and rear sights come standard, and the Picatinny rail up top leaves plenty of room for a red dot when you are ready to upgrade.
You get three magazines in the box: a 2-rounder that keeps the profile slim for field use, a 5-rounder for everyday range work, and a 10-round extended mag when you want fewer reloads between strings. If that is still not enough, the platform accepts factory 21-round drums, so there is room to grow.
Derya does not skimp on the extras. Along with the shotgun and mags, you get a premium soft case, the three choke tubes, a sling, earmuffs, a cleaning cloth, a gun lock, and a Derya gear bag with the manual and heavy piston. At around 8 pounds with a 39-inch overall length, the DY12 handles well for a box-fed 12 gauge and shows up ready to shoot, not ready to shop for accessories.
This model ships with three magazines: a 2-round, a 5-round, and a 10-round extended mag, all of which feed both 2-3/4 and 3-inch shells. If you want more capacity down the road, the DY12 platform is compatible with factory 21-round drum magazines. Mags also interchange across the DY12 series.
Like most mag-fed semi-auto shotguns, the DY12 runs best on quality ammo, and very light trap and skeet loads can be finicky before break-in. Derya includes a heavy piston for stout loads, and running the standard setup with smooth-hulled, rounded-nose shells gives the best feeding from the box magazines. Give it a proper break-in period and keep it clean, and it settles in nicely.
Yes. The upper receiver has a Picatinny rail, so red dots and most single-lug sights mount right up. The included flip-up front and rear sights fold down out of the way when an optic is installed, giving you a solid backup option.
