The entire can is 3D printed from Haynes 282, a nickel based superalloy borrowed from jet turbine engineering, which means it shrugs off the kind of heat that would cook a conventional welded suppressor. Since the body is printed as one monolithic piece, there are no weld seams to worry about, and the internal geometry is far more intricate than anything a lathe could produce. That internal layout is Dead Air's Triskelion gas management system, which pushes propellant gas forward and out instead of back into your receiver and your face.
Backpressure is the thing most .30 cal cans get wrong, and it is where the Sandman X earns its keep. The low backpressure design means your AR-10 or gas gun does not turn into a face-fogging machine after a few magazines, bolt speed stays closer to normal, and the rifle stays cleaner and easier on parts. It is full-auto rated with no barrel length restrictions and handles cartridges up to .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, so .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, .300 Blackout, and even 5.56 hosts are all fair game with the right mount and front cap.
This configuration ships with the DA438 KeyMo adapter and a DA116 KeyMicro 3-prong flash hider in 5/8×24, so you have a complete quick-detach setup from day one. KeyMo locks up tight and returns to the same spot every time, which is why it is the go-to choice for high volume and duty use. Underneath that adapter sits an industry standard HUB 1.375×24 socket, meaning you can swap to Xeno, direct thread, or a pile of third party mounts down the road. The 7.62 flash hider front cap comes pre-installed and the whole can wears a high-temp FDE Cerakote finish.

Yes. While it is a .30 caliber can at heart, the Sandman X is rated for anything up to .300 RUM, and sub-calibers like 5.56, .300 Blackout, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .308 are all within spec. For best results on 5.56 hosts, Dead Air recommends pairing it with their 5.56 flash hider front cap and an appropriate muzzle device.
The KeyMo version measures 6.9 inches and weighs about 16.8 ounces, using Dead Air's quick-detach thread-to-taper system that is the better pick for high volume and duty use. The Xeno version is shorter at 6.4 inches and lighter at 14.5 ounces, favored for precision setups. Since both sit on a HUB 1.375×24 socket, you can swap mounting systems later if your needs change.
That is one of its biggest strengths. The Triskelion gas management system directs propellant gas forward and out the front of the can rather than back through the action, so you get noticeably less gas in the face and less artificial bolt acceleration. Your rifle runs cleaner and wears slower as a result, which matters a lot for high round count AR-10 and gas gun setups.
