A good suppressor already knocks down a fair bit of recoil on its own. The Sandman E-Brake takes that a step further by putting an actual brake at the business end of your can. Pull your existing front cap, thread the E-Brake onto the front of your Sandman, reinstall the cap on the E-Brake, and you have a noticeably flatter shooting rifle without touching anything else on your setup. Dead Air even tosses the DA208 front cap tool in the box, so there is nothing extra to hunt down before installation.
What separates this from a bare muzzle brake is the way it handles gas. Instead of blasting everything sideways, the E-Brake uses a series of vent holes to diffuse the high pressure gas as it leaves the suppressor. That softer release means less dust kicked up when you are shooting prone and a much friendlier experience for whoever is spotting next to you. You get the recoil benefit of a brake without the harsh concussion brakes are known for, which is kind of the whole point of running a can in the first place.
The DA442 is machined from 4140 heat treated alloy steel with a black nitride finish, so it shrugs off heat, wear, and weather the same way your Sandman does. It measures 1.46 inches long, weighs a hair over 2 ounces, and its 1.5 inch diameter matches the Sandman body for a clean, uniform profile. The through bore is sized for .30 caliber, and it handles everything from 5.56 up through 7.62.
Because it shares the R-Series front cap thread pitch, this E-Brake works across the Sandman-K, Sandman-S, and Sandman-L, and it also fits the Wolverine, Nomad series, Sierra-5, and Wolfman. One note: it uses your suppressor's existing front cap, so nothing needs replacing, just rearranging. For anyone running a Sandman on a hard kicking rifle, this is one of the easiest upgrades you can make.
The DA442 shares the R-Series front cap thread pitch, so it fits the Sandman-K, Sandman-S, and Sandman-L, plus the Wolverine, Nomad series, Sierra-5, and Wolfman. The 1.5 inch diameter matches the Sandman and Wolverine body width for a flush look. If you want a flush fit on a Nomad, Dead Air makes a 1.735 inch version (KA180) for that.
No, it uses the front cap already on your suppressor. You remove your existing cap, thread it onto the front of the E-Brake, then spin the whole assembly onto your can. Dead Air does include the DA208 front cap tool in the box, so you have everything needed for the swap.
Not even close. The vent holes diffuse the escaping gas for a much softer release than a bare brake, so it cuts recoil without punishing bystanders with concussion. It also kicks up less dust when shooting prone, which is a nice bonus for precision work off the ground.
It has a .30 caliber through bore and is rated for cartridges from 5.56mm up through 7.62mm. Just make sure the E-Brake bore matches or exceeds the caliber of the host rifle, same as you would with the suppressor itself.
