Few rifles have the pedigree of the MK18. This is the setup Daniel Defense built for USSOCOM, and this factory SBR gives you that same configuration: a 10.3-inch cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel wearing the famous RIS II quad rail with its Bolt-Up attachment system. The barrel is chrome moly vanadium steel with a government profile, 1:7 twist, and mil-spec heavy phosphate coating, chambered to run both 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem without complaint. A carbine-length gas system with a pinned low-profile gas block keeps it cycling smoothly, and the muzzle carries the Daniel Defense flash suppressor on 1/2×28 threads, so adding a suppressor down the road is simple.
The RIS II handguard is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and free-floats the barrel, which is a big part of why these short guns shoot better than they have any right to. Both receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with M4 feed ramps up top and a flared magwell down below, plus a rear QD sling point built right into the lower. The MP-tested bolt carrier group has a properly staked gas key, and an H buffer keeps the recoil impulse controlled. The GRIP-N-RIP charging handle works independently from either side, a nice touch for lefties or anyone running the gun around cover.
At roughly 5.9 pounds with an overall length starting under 27 inches with the stock collapsed, this thing handles like a dream in tight spaces, vehicles, and hallways. Daniel Defense's soft-touch overmolded buttstock and pistol grip give it a comfortable, grippy feel, and three Santoprene rail ladders come along to cover the sections of quad rail you're not using. Every rifle is hand assembled and test fired before it leaves the factory, and it arrives in a Daniel Defense hard case with one 32-round DD magazine. If you want the real deal instead of a clone, this is it, built in the USA by the company that made the MK18 what it is.
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 behind the included Daniel Defense flash suppressor, so most 5.56 cans and mounts thread right on. The pinned low-profile gas block and free-floated barrel also make it a solid host once you add a suppressor.
It sure can. The chamber is cut for 5.56 NATO, which means it safely runs both 5.56 and .223 Rem. NATO-spec loads will squeeze a bit more velocity out of the 10.3-inch barrel, but both feed and cycle reliably in this platform.
