There is something satisfying about an AR that hits with .308 authority, and the Diamondback DB10 delivers that without making you take out a second mortgage. This is Diamondback's Carbon Series, their no-frills line built entirely at their facility in Cocoa, Florida. You get the stuff that matters, forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers, a shot-peened and magnetic particle inspected 8620 bolt carrier, and a 16-inch 4150 chrome moly vanadium barrel with a black nitride finish that shrugs off weather and cleans up easy.
Plenty of budget .308 ARs run harsh. Diamondback went with a mid-length gas system on this 16-inch barrel, which smooths out the recoil impulse and takes some of the sting out of a cartridge that is known for being a shoulder thumper in lightweight rifles. Pair that with the A2 flash hider up front and the DB10 stays flatter through follow-up shots than you might expect. The 1:10 twist stabilizes the full range of common .308 loads, from 147 grain plinking ammo up to heavier hunting bullets.
The flat-top upper ships without sights, so plan on mounting glass. A 1-6x LPVO or a mid-range scope both make sense here depending on whether you lean tactical or hunting. The 15-inch free-float M-LOK handguard gives you room to run a bipod, light, or hand stop wherever you want them, and free-floating the barrel helps accuracy since nothing is putting pressure on it. Magpul handles the furniture with an MOE carbine stock that adjusts for length of pull and an MOE-K grip that keeps your wrist at a comfortable angle.
Out of the box you get the rifle and a 20-round Magpul Gen M3 PMAG, which is the magazine most AR-10 owners end up buying anyway. At around 8 pounds bare, it carries fine on a hog hunt and settles down nicely on a bench. Threaded 5/8×24 at the muzzle, it is ready for a brake or suppressor whenever you are. For an American-made .308 AR at this level, the DB10 is tough to argue with.
No, this model ships with a bare A3 flat-top upper and no iron sights. The full-length Picatinny rail on top gives you plenty of real estate for a scope, red dot, or LPVO, plus backup irons if you want them. Most buyers running a .308 AR put glass on it anyway, so Diamondback skipped the throwaway sights and kept the cost down.
Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard thread pattern for .30 caliber muzzle devices. The factory A2 flash hider spins off easily, so you can mount a brake, a different flash hider, or a suppressor mount without any gunsmithing.
It handles both .308 Winchester and 7.62×51 NATO. That flexibility is handy since surplus and bulk NATO ammo tends to be affordable for range days, while commercial .308 hunting loads give you plenty of options for game. The 1:10 twist rate stabilizes common bullet weights across both.
It ships with one 20-round Magpul Gen M3 PMAG and runs on SR-25 pattern magazines, which is the most common AR-10 magazine standard out there. That means spare mags are easy to find in 10, 20, and 25-round sizes from Magpul, Lancer, and others.
