Description

If you have ever carried a heavy AR through timber or run it hard during a long range day, you understand why the DDM4 V7 SLW exists. SLW stands for Slim Lightweight, and Daniel Defense delivered on the name. This rifle weighs in around 5.9 pounds, making it one of the lightest and quickest-handling builds in the entire DDM4 lineup.

The heart of the rifle is a cold hammer forged, chrome lined 14.5 inch lightweight profile barrel made from chrome moly vanadium steel with a 1:7 twist. Every barrel is HP and MPI tested before it leaves the factory. An extended flash suppressor is pinned and welded to the muzzle, bringing the overall barrel length to 16 inches so it transfers like any standard rifle while keeping the shorter, livelier feel of a 14.5 inch tube. The mid-length gas system with a pinned low-profile gas block runs noticeably smoother than carbine-length setups, taking the edge off felt recoil and easing wear on internals.

Up front, the free-floating MFR 13.5 handguard gives you M-LOK slots along seven positions plus a full-length uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny top rail. That means plenty of real estate for a light, sling mounts, and whatever optic you choose, since this rifle ships optic ready with no sights installed. The upper and lower receivers are CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, with M4 feed ramps up top and an enhanced flared magwell below for faster reloads. Daniel Defense finishes things off with their proprietary pistol grip and 6-position buttstock, both featuring SoftTouch overmolding that gives a grippy, comfortable feel even with cold or wet hands.

The Deep Woods Green Cerakote over the receivers and handguard pairs cleanly with the black furniture and barrel for a genuinely good-looking two-tone setup that holds up to field abuse. One 32-round Daniel Defense magazine is included.

For patrol work, home defense, or anyone who wants a premium lightweight 5.56 carbine they can trust without question, the V7 SLW is hard to beat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DDM4 V7 SLW come with sights?

No, this rifle ships optic ready with no iron sights installed. The uninterrupted full-length Picatinny top rail gives you a clean slate for a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons of your choosing. Many owners pair it with a lightweight micro red dot to keep the overall weight down.

Why does a 14.5 inch barrel transfer like a standard rifle?

The extended flash suppressor is permanently pinned and welded to the barrel, bringing the total barrel length to 16 inches. That means it handles and transfers just like any other rifle, no extra paperwork or wait. You get the quicker, shorter feel of a 14.5 inch barrel without the hassle.

Can I attach a suppressor to this rifle?

Not directly, since the flash suppressor is permanently pinned and welded to maintain the 16 inch barrel length. Removing it is not a simple swap like a standard threaded muzzle device. If suppressor use is a priority, the standard 16 inch DDM4 V7 with a removable muzzle device is the better pick.

How much does the DDM4 V7 SLW weigh?

It comes in at roughly 5.9 pounds unloaded, making it one of the lightest rifles in the entire DDM4 lineup. The lightweight profile barrel and the slim MFR 13.5 handguard are where most of the weight savings come from. Even after adding an optic, light, and sling, it stays remarkably easy to carry and quick on target.

What magazine does it ship with?

The rifle includes one Daniel Defense 32-round magazine. These proprietary DD magazines are known for reliable feeding and a slight weight savings over many standard mags. The flared magwell on the lower also accepts standard AR-pattern magazines, so your existing mags will run fine.
