The CZ Shadow 2 Target is not just another Shadow 2 variant with a new finish. It was purpose-built for bullseye and precision competition from the ground up, developed directly alongside eight-time overall IPSC World Champion Eric Grauffel. The result is a steel-framed 9mm that carries the DNA of one of the best competition pistols ever made but takes it somewhere more deliberate: a gun tuned for the kind of shooting where every thousandth of an inch matters.
The 5" barrel is cold hammer-forged, hand-fitted to the slide, polished, and backed by CZ's lifetime barrel warranty. That extra care in the fitting process pays off in tighter groupings and a smoother cycling feel right out of the box. The flat-faced trigger runs single-action only and is adjustable for take-up, overtravel, and pull weight from 1.3 to 3.8 lbs, with five positions for length of pull. That level of adjustability out of the box is something most shooters spend real money chasing through aftermarket parts. The LPA adjustable rear sight and swappable front blades (3mm and 3.5mm included) give you real windage and elevation control for dialing in your specific load. No drifting, no guessing.
The steel frame gets an enlarged trigger guard undercut so you can ride a high, consistent grip close to the bore axis, which keeps recoil predictable and manageable. The Picatinny rail on the dust cover is gone here; in its place are threaded holes for optional frame weights to further flatten muzzle rise during long strings of fire. That trade-off makes perfect sense for what this gun is built for. G10 grips, an extended beavertail, ambidextrous manual safety, deeper cocking serrations, and an optics-ready slide cut round out a package that covers just about everything a serious pistol shooter could ask for.
At about 46.5 ounces unloaded, this pistol is substantial. On a carry gun, that would be a knock. On a precision target pistol, it is exactly what you want. The all-steel construction absorbs recoil, keeps the gun tracking flat, and makes rapid-fire accuracy feel almost effortless. This is a range gun and a competition gun, and it is excellent at both.
The Shadow 2 Target was designed specifically for precision and bullseye-style competition. Because it runs single-action only and includes features like an adjustable trigger and frame weight provisions, it falls outside standard USPSA Production division rules. It is best suited for bullseye matches, open divisions, or precision pistol disciplines where those features are permitted. Always verify with your specific match director before competing.

Both are TALO exclusives built on the same platform with the same feature set. The 5" model (MPN 91246) offers a slightly more balanced handling profile, while the 6" version delivers a longer sight radius that can benefit precision slow-fire shooting. For most practical competition use, the 5" is the more versatile choice.
Yes, the slide on the Shadow 2 Target includes an optics-ready cut, so you can mount a red dot if you prefer to run it in a carry optics or open-style setup. The LPA iron sights are still fully functional and competition-grade on their own if you prefer to run irons.
CZ made a deliberate design decision to replace the standard accessory rail with threaded mounting points for frame weights. For a bullseye or precision target pistol, a weapon light or laser is not part of the game plan. Frame weights, on the other hand, reduce muzzle rise and help the gun settle faster between shots, which is exactly what this platform is built around.
The Shadow 2 Target is a serious investment and is most at home in the hands of someone who already understands the DA/SA manual of arms and is specifically pursuing precision or bullseye competition. If you are newer to competition and just getting started, the standard Shadow 2 or Shadow 2 OR might be a better entry point. That said, this gun will not hold an experienced shooter back in the least.
