There's a reason the 457 Varmint keeps showing up at rimfire matches and in the back of trucks headed out to prairie dog towns. CZ took their proven 457 action, hung a .866 inch cylindrical heavy barrel off the front, and dropped it into a Turkish walnut stock shaped for real work off a rest. Chambered in .22 WMR, this one gives you noticeably more reach and thump than a .22 LR, which matters a lot when the target is a ground squirrel at 125 yards instead of a paper circle at 50.
That 20.5 inch cold hammer forged barrel is the heart of this rifle. The extra steel steadies the whole package on a bipod or bag, keeps barrel harmonics consistent, and helps the rifle shoot well across a wide range of magnum rimfire loads instead of being picky about one. The black nitride finish shrugs off weather and handling, so the field days don't have to be fair weather days. Up top there's an integral 11mm dovetail on the receiver, and since there are no iron sights, plan on mounting glass. With a decent scope, sub inch groups at 50 yards are a realistic expectation, not a brag.
The Turkish walnut stock is more than good looks, though the wood on these tends to draw compliments. The American style comb lines your eye up naturally behind a scope, the wide flat forend sits rock solid on a sandbag, and laser cut stippling at the grip and forend keeps your hands planted when the weather turns.

The receiver has an integral 11mm dovetail machined right into the top, so you can clamp rimfire rings directly to it or add an 11mm-to-Picatinny adapter rail if you prefer standard mounts. Yes, and it's one of the best parts of the 457 series. The trigger is fully adjustable for pull weight, and tuning it is a much simpler job than it was on the older CZ 455. Most folks dial it down from the factory setting and end up with a crisp, clean break that suits precision work.
It can. The 457 uses the same reliable polymer magazine system as the 455, so existing 455 mags in the correct caliber will run in this rifle. Just make sure you're using .22 WMR magazines, since .22 LR mags for the same platform are a different animal. Higher capacity options are also available if five rounds feels limiting.
This is one of the more accurate factory magnum rimfires you'll find.
