The payoff is roughly one and a half times the energy of subsonic 300 Blackout, with a bullet engineered to open up at velocities as low as 900 fps. Feed it the 175 grain supersonic load instead and you have a legit 200 yard deer, hog, and black bear cartridge with mild recoil. Yes, the muzzle is threaded from the factory for direct-thread suppressors and muzzle devices. The .338 ARC was designed with suppressed shooting in mind, and the heavy 307 grain subsonic loads through a can are remarkably quiet. A dedicated .338 caliber can or a large-bore .45 caliber suppressor will both work well.
Hornady loads two options: a 307 grain Sub-X subsonic that expands reliably at low velocities and works great suppressed inside 100 yards or so, and a 175 grain supersonic load good for deer-sized game out to around 200 yards. Since this is a single shot with no action to cycle, you can swap between the two freely without any reliability concerns. The 1:8 twist barrel stabilizes both loads.
No iron sights are included, but a DuraSight scope rail comes mounted on the receiver from the factory. That makes it quick to add a scope, red dot, or low-power variable optic. Given the .338 ARC's practical range, a compact 2-7x or 3-9x scope is a popular pairing.
