Colt built the original M4s for the military, and this carbine carries that same DNA into a semi-automatic package you can take to the range this weekend. The Magpul SL version, model LE6920MPS-B, takes the proven 6920 platform and dresses it in Magpul's MOE SL Slim Line furniture, which means you skip the usual round of aftermarket upgrades most folks bolt on after buying a base rifle.
The 16.1 inch chrome-lined barrel is where this carbine earns its keep. Chrome lining shrugs off wear and corrosion, cleans up easier, and holds up through high round counts. The 1:7 twist rate stabilizes everything from lightweight 55 grain plinking loads to heavy 77 grain match ammo, so you are not locked into one type of ammunition. Up top, the flattop receiver gives you rail space for an optic, while the A2 front sight post and Magpul flip-up rear sight let you shoot straight out of the box. Receivers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a black hardcoat anodized finish, running the classic direct impingement gas system that has been getting the job done for decades.
Magpul's SL line trims down the profile compared to standard MOE parts. The handguard extends further forward and includes M-LOK slots at the two, six, and ten o'clock positions, so lights, rail sections, and sling mounts attach without pulling the handguard off. The SL buttstock locks up tight on the buffer tube with an anti-snag dual-side release, and the grip sits at a more upright angle with grippy TSP texture that works well for modern shooting stances. A MOE vertical grip and trigger guard finish out the package.

The MPS version wears Magpul's newer MOE SL Slim Line furniture instead of the standard MOE parts. The SL handguard runs longer with built-in M-LOK slots, the buttstock has a tighter, snag-free fit with a dual-side release, and the grip sits at a more upright angle. The core rifle underneath, including the barrel, receivers, and internals, is the same proven 6920 platform.
The 1:7 twist barrel is one of the more versatile setups out there. It stabilizes light 55 grain range ammo just fine and really shines with heavier 62 to 77 grain loads. Since it is chambered for 5.56 NATO, it safely runs both 5.56 and .223 Remington.

It is ready to shoot as-is. You get a fixed A2 front sight post and a Magpul flip-up rear sight that adjusts for windage. The flattop upper also has a Picatinny rail, so adding a red dot or scope later is easy, and the rear sight folds down out of the way when you do.
