The Dissent MK4 exists because CMMG asked a simple question: what happens if you pull the entire recoil system out of the buffer tube and tuck it inside the upper receiver? The answer is a 9mm AR pistol that measures just 14.7 inches from the ZEROED linear compensator to the flat rear of the receiver and weighs about 4.6 pounds. That flat back end wears a 1913 Picatinny rail plate instead of a receiver extension, so the whole package stows in a backpack or truck bag in a way no buffer-tube AR ever could.
Instead of the harsh straight blowback most 9mm ARs rely on, this one cycles through CMMG's Radial Delayed Blowback Compact Action with a fixed ejector in the upper. The bolt carrier is lighter, felt recoil drops noticeably, and it digests everything from hot supersonic range ammo to heavy subsonics without fuss. The 6.5 inch 4140 chrome moly barrel gets a salt bath nitride finish, a 1:10 twist, and 1/2×28 threads under that linear comp, which pushes blast forward instead of back at you. Pull the comp and it is ready for a can.
The forward non-reciprocating side charger ships on the left and can be swapped to the right, and it lets you work the bolt with your support hand while staying on target. CMMG did not skimp on the fire control group either. You get a TriggerTech AR-D two-stage trigger developed specifically for the Dissent line, plus a ZEROED 60/90 degree safety selector and ZEROED pistol grip. The 5.5 inch M-LOK handguard and full-length top rail handle lights, hand stops, and your optic of choice.
