Description
CMMG made their name building rifles that run hard, so it tracks that their DEFCAN 556 is built to take the same kind of abuse. This is a full-auto rated 5.56/.223 can with a 3D metal printed Inconel core, the same superalloy used in jet engines, so sustained fire and mag dumps are not going to hurt it. At 7.8 inches long with a black Cerakote finish, it looks right at home on an AR and delivers the kind of sound and flash reduction that makes a day at the range a lot more pleasant for you and everyone on the line next to you.
Mounting the DEFCAN 556 Is Refreshingly Simple
Here is where this can really earns its keep. The included ZEROED SVD muzzle brake threads onto a standard 1/2×28 muzzle, and from there you just slide the DEFCAN over the brake, close the locking gate, and twist until it ratchets snug. No timing headaches, no fussy alignment. Even better, it locks up the same way over a plain mil-spec A2 flash hider, so if your rifles already wear birdcages, you can move this suppressor between them without buying a pile of extra mounts. CMMG also includes shims and thread locker in the box to get your muzzle device set up right the first time.
HUB Threading Keeps Your DEFCAN Future Proof
The body is threaded with the industry standard 1-3/8×24 HUB pattern, which means the SVD mount unscrews and just about any HUB compatible mount on the market threads right in. If you decide later that you want a different QD system or a direct thread setup, you swap the mount instead of buying a whole new suppressor.
Who the DEFCAN 556 Makes Sense For
This one fits anybody running a 5.56 carbine or rifle who wants a durable, no nonsense can for range days, training, varmint work, or just keeping the blast down on a home setup. The build quality is there for hard use, the mounting system is quick and flexible, and the Inconel construction means it will outlast the barrel it sits on.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the CMMG DEFCAN 556 attach to my rifle?
It uses a quick detach system that works over the included ZEROED SVD muzzle brake or a standard mil-spec A2 flash hider. You slide the can over the muzzle device, close the locking gate, and twist until it ratchets tight. If your rifles already have A2 birdcages installed, you can move the suppressor between them without buying additional mounts.
Is the DEFCAN 556 full-auto rated?
Yes. The 3D metal printed Inconel construction is built specifically to handle the heat of sustained and full-auto fire. Inconel is a nickel superalloy known for holding up under extreme temperatures, which is why it shows up in hard-use rifle suppressors like this one.
Is the DEFCAN 556 HUB compatible if I want a different mount later?
It is. The body is threaded with the industry standard 1-3/8×24 HUB pattern, so the included SVD/A2 mount unscrews and swaps for just about any HUB compatible mount on the market. That means you can switch to a different QD system or direct thread mount down the road without replacing the suppressor itself.
Can I shoot .223 Remington through the DEFCAN 556 or only 5.56 NATO?
Both are fine. The DEFCAN 556 is rated for .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO, so it covers everything from a bolt-action varmint rig to a hard-running AR carbine. It also pairs well with smaller centerfire rounds that fit within the 5.56 bore, though it is purpose-built around the 5.56 platform.
