The 4140 chromoly barrel wears a durable salt bath nitride treatment and a 1:7 twist that stabilizes everything from light varmint loads to heavy 77 grain match ammo, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 with a ZEROED linear compensator installed to push blast and concussion forward instead of back at you. That matters more than you'd think on a barrel this short.
Where a lot of budget AR pistols nickel and dime you on parts, CMMG loads this one up. The ZEROED drop-in trigger is a genuine upgrade over mil-spec, and the controls are fully ambidextrous: safety selector, charging handle, and mag catch all work from either side. The safety even lets you pick between 60 and 90 degrees of throw. Out back, the RipBrace deploys with a single pull, no fumbling with adjustment levers when seconds count. The EML handguard gives you M-LOK slots along both sides and the bottom, plus more M-LOK between the top Picatinny sections, so lights, lasers, and hand stops all have a home. Receivers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum, and the whole thing comes in around 5.5 pounds.
The Midnight Bronze finish is one of CMMG's best looking Cerakote options, a deep, dark bronze that stands out at the range without being loud about it, and it adds real wear and corrosion resistance on top of the looks. There are no sights included, just uninterrupted top rail, so plan on adding a red dot or backup irons. No, this one ships optics ready with a bare Picatinny top rail. Most buyers pair it with a red dot, which suits the fast-handling nature of a 10.5 inch AR pistol. If you want backup irons, the full-length top rail gives you plenty of room to co-witness.
It runs standard AR-15 pattern magazines, so PMAGs, aluminum GI mags, and just about anything else you already own will drop right in. One 30-round magazine comes in the box. The Mk4 lower will also work with CMMG's conversion magazines when paired with a matching upper group.
You give up some velocity compared to a 16 inch rifle, but 5.56 out of a 10.5 inch barrel still delivers plenty of energy at the distances a compact pistol like this is built for. The 1:7 twist stabilizes heavier bullets like 62 and 77 grain loads, which hold their performance better from short barrels. The included linear compensator also helps tame the extra muzzle blast a short 5.56 produces.
The RipBrace is CMMG's quick-deploy pistol brace. Instead of pressing a lever and sliding it to position, you just pull it straight back and it extends to your preset length in one motion. It collapses down tight for storage, which is a big part of why this Banshee packs away so easily.
