Description
The .338 ARC is Hornady's purpose-built big-bore cartridge designed to push well beyond what 300 Blackout can do, all while staying in a standard AR-15 footprint. CMMG was the first manufacturer to bring complete rifle systems chambered in 338 ARC to market, and the Banshee MK4 is the pistol-format result of that development. You get a .338-caliber punch in a compact, AR-15-compatible package that most people can already operate comfortably.
The heart of this build is the 10.5" 4140CM barrel with a nitride finish and 1:8 twist rate. That twist gives you flexibility across the .338 projectile spectrum, from traditional 175-grain supersonic loads out to 307-grain subsonic heavyweights. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with CMMG's Zeroed Linear Compensator already installed, so it's ready to go as-is or ready to accept your suppressor of choice. The 338 ARC works with dedicated .338 caliber cans as well as compatible 9mm and .45 caliber suppressors, which helps if you've already got hardware in the safe.
The MK4 receiver set uses a billet 6061 T6 aluminum upper paired with a forged 7075 T6 aluminum lower. The EML9 M-LOK handguard runs full-length M-LOK slots on the sides and bottom with additional slots flanking the top Picatinny rail, so there's plenty of real estate for lights, lasers, or whatever else you run. Controls are fully ambidextrous, and the CMMG Zeroed ambi charging handle, trigger guard, and pistol grip are all included standard.
The CMMG RipBrace deploys quickly and provides a solid cheek weld when you need it. Total weight comes in at 5.6 lbs with a 26" overall length, so this thing is genuinely compact without sacrificing the build quality CMMG is known for. The Midnight Bronze Cerakote finish gives it a distinctive, durable coating that holds up well to regular use.
This pistol ships with one 10-round CMMG 338 ARC magazine. Every CMMG firearm is backed by their Lifetime Quality Guarantee against material and workmanship defects, made in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions
What magazines does the CMMG Banshee MK4 338 ARC use?
The Banshee MK4 338 ARC uses CMMG's dedicated 338 ARC magazines. The 338 ARC shares the same bolt as the 6.5 Grendel, meaning Grendel-pattern magazines are the basis for 338 ARC-specific mags. This pistol ships with one 10-round CMMG 338 ARC magazine.
Can the CMMG Banshee MK4 338 ARC run both supersonic and subsonic ammo reliably?
Yes. One of the key design advantages of the 338 ARC cartridge is that both the supersonic (175-grain) and subsonic (307-grain) loads generate similar pressure, which means the gun cycles both without any adjustments to the gas system. This is a genuine improvement over 300 Blackout, which can require tuning when switching between supers and subs.
Is the Banshee MK4 338 ARC suppressor-ready?
It is. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24 and the CMMG Zeroed Linear Compensator swaps off easily for your suppressor of choice. The 338 ARC is compatible with dedicated .338 caliber suppressors as well as compatible 9mm and .45 caliber cans, giving you flexibility if you already own a suppressor.
How does .338 ARC compare to .300 Blackout in this type of build?
The 338 ARC delivers roughly 1.5 times more muzzle energy in subsonic configuration compared to 300 Blackout subsonic, and the heavier .338-diameter projectiles offer better sectional density and penetration. The trade-off is that 338 ARC ammo is newer and carries a higher price per round, and there are fewer factory load options currently available than with the more established 300 BLK.
What Cerakote finish does the 34A390F-MB model come in?
The MPN 34A390F-MB designates the Midnight Bronze Cerakote finish. This is applied across the receivers, handguard, and barrel, giving the whole gun a unified look. It is a durable, corrosion-resistant coating that holds up well under normal field use and storage.
Does the CMMG Banshee MK4 338 ARC come with sights?
No sights are included. The MK4 upper receiver features a continuous Picatinny top rail running from the upper receiver through the handguard, so mounting a red dot or low-power optic is straightforward. Most buyers in this category run a compact red dot or reflex sight.
