The 6mm ARC has earned a loyal following for one simple reason: it shoots flat and hits hard way out past where 5.56 gives up, all from a small-frame rifle. CMMG paired that cartridge with their DISSENT MK4 platform and the result is a carbine that hangs with .243 and .308 ballistics while staying trim enough to carry all day. The big story here is the compact action. CMMG ditched the traditional buffer tube entirely, which is what allows the DISSENT side-folding stock to work on a direct impingement rifle. That stock gives you eight length of pull positions, three cheek riser heights, and three QD sling sockets, so getting behind a magnified optic comfortably is easy. Fold it and the rifle packs down noticeably shorter for transport. Up front, a non-reciprocating side charging handle can be swapped to either side, letting you run the bolt without breaking your cheek weld or coming off target.
The 16.1 inch medium taper barrel is 416 stainless steel with a durable coating, cut with a 1:7.5 twist that stabilizes the long, high-BC bullets 6mm ARC is known for. The muzzle wears a ZEROED device on standard 5/8×24 threads, so mounting a suppressor or a different brake is straightforward. The adjustable gas block is the cherry on top, letting you tune the system for suppressed use or a specific load instead of living with an overgassed gun. A 15 inch M-LOK handguard with a full-length top rail handles bipods, lights, and whatever else your setup calls for, and the ambidextrous 60/90 degree safety rounds out the controls. The 6mm ARC was designed to deliver ballistics that rival .243 and .308 out of an AR-15 sized platform. You get a much flatter trajectory and better wind performance than 5.56 at distance, without stepping up to the weight and bulk of an AR-10. It's a sweet spot for deer hunting and steel past 600 yards.
CMMG's DISSENT uses a compact action that eliminates the traditional buffer system entirely while keeping direct impingement operation. Since there's no buffer tube sticking out the back, the stock can fold flat against the side of the rifle. It also adjusts with 8 length of pull positions and 3 cheek riser heights.
Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most 6mm and .30 caliber cans, and the muzzle device comes off easily. Better yet, the adjustable gas block lets you turn gas down when running suppressed so the rifle stays soft and clean instead of overgassed.
