The 5.7x28mm cartridge has earned a real following the last few years, and this CMMG Resolute Upper Group is one of the cleanest ways to run it in a full-size AR carbine. It's a complete upper built around a 16.1-inch medium taper barrel, so you get flat-shooting velocity and the balanced handling of a carbine rather than the muzzle blast and lost energy that comes with chopping things down to pistol length. Drop it onto a compatible lower and you're most of the way to a finished rifle.
The heart of this upper is CMMG's patented Radial Delayed Blowback system. Instead of relying on a heavy bolt and stiff spring like a straight blowback gun, the bolt rotates and unlocks to slow the carrier down, letting chamber pressure drop before extraction. The payoff is noticeably softer recoil, cleaner cycling, and better manners with a suppressor. Folks who've shot 5.7 in these CMMG platforms often compare the felt recoil to a .22, which makes it a genuinely fun gun to run all day at the range.
The upper receiver is billet 6061-T6 aluminum wearing an Armor Black Cerakote finish, paired with CMMG's newer EML15 M-LOK free-float handguard for a modern look and plenty of room to hang lights, sights, and grips. The barrel is 4140CM SBN steel with a 1:9 twist and a 1/2×28 muzzle thread capped by a ZEROED muzzle brake. It ships complete with the bolt carrier group, a ZEROED ambidextrous charging handle, and a polymer dust cover, so there's no chasing down loose parts.
This one plays nice with both worlds. Mate it to a CMMG Mk57 lower to run FN Five-seveN style magazines, or bolt it to a standard AR15 lower and feed it with CMMG's 5.7 AR Conversion Magazines. Being able to share the same round and, in the Mk57 setup, the same mags between your pistol and carbine is a big part of the appeal. At roughly 4 pounds and 25.3 inches long, it keeps the whole build light and easy to carry.

The 5.7x28mm round itself is light and low-recoiling, and CMMG's Radial Delayed Blowback system slows the action down mechanically for an even softer impulse than a typical blowback gun.
