The Dissent BR4 is one of the more clever rifles CMMG has put out, and that says something. Instead of the usual buffer tube setup, it runs CMMG's compact action direct impingement system, which frees the rifle from needing anything behind the receiver. That opens the door for the Magpul SGA shoulder stock, an 870-pattern stock that gives the BR4 a traditional rifle feel with adjustable length of pull and a comfortable cheek weld. The result handles like a classic carbine but runs like a modern AR, and it still feeds from standard AR-15 pattern magazines.
Up front you get a 16.1-inch 4140CM barrel with a black nitride finish, a 1:7 twist that stabilizes heavier 5.56 loads, and 1/2×28 threading wearing CMMG's Zeroed muzzle brake. Swap the brake for a suppressor and the adjustable .750-inch gas block lets you dial the system in for whatever ammo or can you're running. The upper and billet lower are both 7075-T6 aluminum finished in Coyote Tan Cerakote, and CMMG's 15-inch handguard gives you M-LOK real estate for lights, bipods, or a hand stop. A full-length Picatinny top rail keeps it ready for a red dot, LPVO, or magnified glass.
The controls are refreshingly simple. A crossbolt safety sits where shotgun hands expect it, and the forward-mounted, non-reciprocating side charging handle is reversible, so left-handed folks aren't an afterthought. The Zeroed drop-in single stage trigger breaks clean out of the box, which makes zeroing and steady work at distance a lot more pleasant. At 38.1 inches overall, it balances well between the bench and field carry, and 5.56 keeps ammo affordable for high-volume range days.

Yes. Even though the BR4 skips the buffer tube and pistol grip layout, the lower still feeds from standard AR-15 pattern magazines. This one ships from the factory with two Magpul 10-round PMAGs, and any quality 5.56 AR mag will run in it.
You sure can. The 16.1-inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28, so once you remove the Zeroed muzzle brake you can mount most common 5.56 cans. The adjustable gas block is a big plus here, letting you tune the gas system for suppressed shooting so the rifle stays soft and clean-running.
