The DISSENT BR3 is CMMG doing what CMMG does best, which is rethinking a platform instead of copying one. This is a large-frame .308 Win carbine that swaps the usual AR furniture for a Remington 870-pattern Magpul SGA stock and a cross-bolt safety, giving it the straightforward feel of a classic hunting gun with the capability of a modern semi-auto. The 16.1 inch 4140CM barrel wears a durable nitride finish, spins bullets with a 1:10 twist, and comes capped with CMMG's ZEROED muzzle brake on standard 5/8×24 threads, so swapping to a suppressor or different muzzle device is a five minute job.
CMMG built the BR3 around its compact-action direct impingement system, which trims bulk without giving up .308 performance. The reversible, non-reciprocating forward side charger keeps your firing hand on the grip and works for lefties too, and the ambidextrous mag releases carry that same everyone-friendly thinking through the rest of the rifle. Up top you get a full-length Picatinny rail for scopes, red dots, or magnifier combos, while the 15 inch M-LOK handguard gives you plenty of real estate for lights, bipods, and hand stops without adding weight where you do not want it.
The adjustable gas block is one of the smartest features on this rifle. Running suppressed? Dial the gas down and keep the action from getting overworked. Shooting light practice loads one weekend and heavy hunting ammo the next? A quick adjustment keeps everything cycling smooth and soft. It is the kind of feature you usually pay to add later, and here it comes standard on the .750 inch gas journal.
The BR3 lower accepts all DISSENT Mk3-compatible upper groups, so one rifle can become a 6.5 Creedmoor or 8.6 BLK down the road. The 7075-T6 aluminum receivers are finished in a clean Coyote Tan, it ships with two 10-round magazines, and CMMG backs everything with their Lifetime Quality Guarantee. For hunting, range work, or general utility, this is a lot of well-built rifle.
Yes, this Coyote Tan model has a threaded muzzle with standard 5/8×24 threads and comes with CMMG's ZEROED muzzle brake installed. Just as important, the adjustable gas block lets you turn the gas down when shooting suppressed, which keeps the action running smooth and cuts back on gas blowback.
The BR3 is built around Remington 870-pattern stocks and ships with a Magpul SGA. Any 870-compatible stock will bolt right on, so you can adjust fit and feel without any gunsmithing. It is a nice change of pace from standard buffer tube setups.
It can. The BR3 lower is compatible with all DISSENT Mk3 upper groups, and CMMG launched the line in .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 8.6 BLK. That means one lower can cover deer season, long-range steel, and heavy subsonic work depending on which upper you drop on it.
CMMG ships the DISSENT BR3 with two 10-round magazines. That gives you a spare right out of the box, and additional magazines are easy to find if you want to keep more loaded for range days.
