The Dissent BR3 is CMMG doing what CMMG does best: rethinking a familiar platform until it works better. This one takes the big frame .308 concept and pairs it with a traditional stock layout, a forward side charging handle, and a crossbolt safety, so it handles more like a classic carbine while still running a modern direct impingement system under the hood. The lower is billet 7075-T6 aluminum, the upper is a Dissent Mk3 pattern, and the whole thing wears a clean Armor Black Cerakote finish.
The 16.1 inch 4140CM medium contour barrel runs a 1:10 twist that stabilizes the full range of common .308 bullet weights, and the muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with CMMG's Zeroed muzzle brake installed to tame recoil. An adjustable .750 inch gas block lets you tune the system to your ammo, which is a nice touch on a .308 where loads vary a lot more than people expect. CMMG's Zeroed single stage trigger, built specifically for the BR3, gives you a clean break that does the cartridge justice at distance.
A full length Picatinny top rail leaves plenty of real estate for an LPVO or a proper magnified optic, and the 15 inch handguard has M-LOK slots for lights, bipods, or a sling mount without adding bulk. The side charging handle is both reversible and non-reciprocating, so lefties can flip it over and nobody has to deal with a handle pumping back and forth under recoil. The Magpul SGA stock uses the proven 870 pattern, which means solid cheek weld and a familiar feel, and the ambidextrous mag release keeps reloads quick from either shoulder.
At around 8.7 pounds it carries reasonably for a big frame rifle, and .308 gives you the reach and energy for deer, hogs, and steel well past where smaller calibers start running out of steam. It comes with a Magpul SGA stock built on the Remington 870 pattern, which gives it a solid, traditional feel with a good cheek weld. Because it follows that common 870 footprint, you have options if you ever want to swap furniture down the road.
