The Model 1892 has a reputation as the smoothest lever action John Browning ever designed, and Cimarron's take on it keeps that spirit alive while chambering it for a cartridge the originals never saw: the .44 Magnum. That pairing makes a lot of sense. The 1892 action was built strong from day one, borrowing its twin locking bolts from the big Model 1886, so it handles magnum pressures with room to spare. Out of the 20 inch barrel, .44 Mag steps up considerably over revolver velocities, giving you real authority on deer and hogs inside a hundred yards or so.
This is a good looking rifle in the traditional sense. The frame wears a color case hardened finish with those swirling blues and straw tones, set against a standard blue barrel and a one piece walnut stock with matching walnut forearm. A solid saddle ring rides on the left side of the receiver, just like the carbines that got hauled around in scabbards a century ago, and a steel butt plate caps off the stock. Sights are period correct too, with a blade up front and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear that is quick to pick up on close targets.
