Description

The AP5 RAL8000 is the full-size, Navy-configured version of Century Arms' AP5 line, dressed up in RAL8000 FDE Cerakote over a manganese phosphate base coat. That two-layer finish isn't just for looks. It gives the stamped steel receiver real corrosion resistance and a tough outer shell that holds up to regular range use. The FDE color ties the whole package together in a way that stands out from the standard black guns without looking over the top.

Under the hood, this thing runs the same roller-lock delayed blowback action that H&K developed in the 1970s and that military and law enforcement units worldwide ran for decades. MKE in Turkey manufactures these on original H&K machinery, and the parts are compatible with standard MP5-pattern components. The 8.9" cold hammer-forged barrel is Chrome Molybdenum Vanadium steel with a 1:9.8" twist rate, and the muzzle is set up with both a tri-lug attachment point and 1/2×28 threads so you can run quick-detach suppressors or any standard threaded muzzle device. The roller delay keeps felt recoil noticeably softer than a comparable direct blowback design, making it genuinely comfortable to shoot for extended sessions.

The Navy-style configuration means you get an ambidextrous selector switch, the classic wide handguard, and the period-correct grip assembly that gives this platform its distinctive silhouette. Sighting is handled by a fixed hooded front post and an adjustable drum-style rear diopter with multiple apertures. A Picatinny-compatible end cap and the included claw-mount 1913 Picatinny rail give you an optics mounting path without permanently modifying the gun. The full package also comes with three 30-round magazines, a flash hider, and a sling, so there's very little you need to add before heading to the range.

This one is going to appeal to collectors who want the Navy aesthetic with a premium finish, suppressor enthusiasts looking for a suppressor-host platform with genuine MP5 heritage, and anyone who has wanted an authentic roller-delayed 9mm without paying SP5 money for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the AP5 RAL8000 and the standard AP5-N Navy?

The AP5 RAL8000 (HG6034GB-N) is the full-size AP5 in FDE Cerakote over manganese phosphate with the Navy-style grip assembly, while the AP5-N Navy (HG6034N-N) wears a lacquer paint finish over manganese phosphate. Both share the same 8.9" barrel, roller-delayed action, and wide handguard, but the RAL8000 gets the more durable Cerakote exterior and ships with three magazines instead of two.

Is the Century Arms AP5 compatible with standard MP5 magazines and accessories?

Yes. The AP5 is manufactured by MKE on original H&K tooling, which means it takes standard MP5-pattern magazines and is compatible with a wide range of MP5-spec aftermarket parts. Things like braces, handguards, and trigger groups designed for the MP5 platform will generally fit, making it one of the more accessory-friendly options in the MP5-clone space.

Can I mount a suppressor on the AP5 RAL8000?

Absolutely. The 8.9" barrel features both a tri-lug quick-detach attachment point and 1/2×28 threads, giving you two mounting options. Tri-lug mounts like those from SilencerCo and other major suppressor manufacturers attach and detach quickly without tools, while the standard 1/2×28 threads work with any compatible direct-thread suppressor or muzzle device.

Does the AP5 have a last-round bolt hold-open?

No, and that's true to the original MP5 design. Like the H&K platform it's based on, the AP5 does not hold the bolt open after the last round. When the magazine runs dry, you'll reload and use the classic HK-style charging handle slap to chamber the first round. It's part of the manual of arms that comes with running this platform.

What type of ammunition runs best in the AP5?

Roller-delayed blowback platforms like the AP5 tend to run most reliably with standard FMJ 9mm ammunition, particularly during the break-in period. The geometry of the feed path can be less forgiving with hollow points that have very flat or open noses, so FMJ is the go-to for range sessions. Once you have rounds through it, many owners report it running a wide variety of loads without issue.

What does the AP5 come with in the box?

The AP5 RAL8000 ships with three 30-round magazines, a flash hider, a claw-mount Picatinny rail, a Picatinny-compatible end cap, a factory sling, and a rugged plastic carry case. It's a complete package that gets you on the range without needing to immediately source accessories.
