There is something about running a lever gun that never gets old, and doing it with cheap .22 LR ammo makes it even better. The Chiappa LA322 Deluxe Take Down is built around that simple idea. It cycles fast, feeds from a 15 round tubular magazine, and the 18.5 inch barrel gives you enough sight radius to make hits on soup cans and squirrels without turning the rifle into a wall hanger. At around 5.5 pounds, it carries easy all day.
Loosen a single knurled screw on the receiver and the LA322 separates into two halves that stow neatly in a pack, truck box, or behind the seat. That makes it a natural pick for camp trips, cabin duty, or anyone who wants a capable rimfire that does not take up much room. Reassembly is just as quick, so you are back to shooting in seconds, not minutes.
The Deluxe trim earns its name with a hand oiled, checkered walnut pistol grip stock and matching forend, paired against a Tactical Grey Cerakote receiver and blued steel barrel. It is a sharp mix of traditional wood and modern finish that holds up to real use. Sights are a fixed tunnel front with a buckhorn style rear that adjusts for elevation and windage, and there is a 3/8 inch dovetail machined into the receiver if you would rather run a rimfire scope or red dot for small game work.
The half cock hammer serves as the safety, keeping the manual of arms old school and simple. The alloy frame keeps weight down while the steel barrel handles the wear, and auto ejection kicks empties clear as fast as you can work the lever. Whether you are teaching a new shooter the ropes, thinning out pests, or just burning through a brick of ammo on a Saturday, this is the kind of rifle that ends up being the favorite in the safe.
A single knurled screw on the receiver lets the rifle come apart into two compact halves without any tools. Once separated, it packs easily into a backpack, gear bag, or small case. Putting it back together takes just a few seconds and it returns to shooting condition right away.
Yes. The receiver has a 3/8 inch dovetail machined into the top, which accepts standard rimfire scope rings and mounts. That makes it easy to add a compact scope or red dot for small game hunting or tighter groups at the range. The buckhorn rear and tunnel front sights work well on their own if you prefer irons.
It is a great fit for that role. At about 5.5 pounds with light .22 LR recoil, a smooth lever throw, and a simple half cock hammer safety, it is easy to learn on and fun to run. The traditional lever action manual of arms also builds good habits that carry over to larger rifles.
It ships with a fixed tunnel style front sight and a buckhorn style rear sight that adjusts for both elevation and windage. That setup lets you dial in your zero for your preferred ammo and distance. If you outgrow the irons, the dovetail on the receiver gives you an optics option.
