The 16.5 inch round barrel comes threaded 5/8×24 from the factory, so hanging a suppressor or muzzle device is a simple job instead of a gunsmith project. Instead of the usual buckhorn setup, Chiappa fitted a red fiber optic front sight paired with a Skinner peep rear mounted on a Picatinny rail. The peep and fiber optic combination is quick to pick up in dim light, exactly when hogs and whitetail like to move, and the rail means you can add a red dot or scout scope later without drilling anything. It is one of the smarter factory sight packages you will find on a lever rifle at any price.

You can. The rear Skinner peep sight sits on a Picatinny rail, so you can add a red dot or a long eye relief scout scope without any drilling or tapping. If you prefer irons, the peep rear and red fiber optic front make a fast, clear sight picture on their own, especially in low light.
The rifle is chambered for .44 Remington Magnum, and like most tube-fed 1892 actions, feeding can be sensitive to the shorter overall length of .44 Special. Some loads run fine while others may need a deliberate lever stroke. For best results stick with .44 Magnum, and check with Chiappa customer service if you plan to run Specials regularly.
