This configuration, model 72324, pairs a 2 inch stainless barrel and stainless cylinder with an 8-round capacity, which is a nice bump over the 5 and 6 shot small-frames most people are used to. The action is double action/single action, so you can run it fast with straight trigger pulls or cock the spurred hammer for a lighter, crisper break when you are taking your time on target. Fixed sights keep the top end snag-free and simple, the ejector rod rides in a shroud for protection, and a hammer block safety rounds out the package. This model holds 8 rounds of .22 WMR in the cylinder. That is a couple more than most small-frame revolvers offer, which means more trigger time between reloads at the range.
No, and this trips up a lot of rimfire fans. The .22 WMR case is longer and slightly wider than .22 LR, so standard .22 LR rounds will not headspace correctly in this cylinder and should never be fired in it. Stick to .22 WMR ammunition only. If you want both calibers, Charter offers dedicated .22 LR Pathfinder models.
It is one of the better starting points out there. It has the size and feel of a centerfire snub-nose but with very light recoil and more affordable ammo, so building fundamentals is a lot less punishing. The simple fixed sights and straightforward manual of arms keep the learning curve gentle too.
