Stamped receivers get the job done, but there's a reason milled AKs have always carried a certain reputation. The Century Arms Sharps MB47 takes that idea and runs with it, starting from a case-hardened billet 4140 steel receiver developed with Sharps Bros. Machining the receiver from solid billet gives the rifle a rigid, flex-free foundation, and it looks the part too. This is the follow-up to Century's C39V2, and it's clear they didn't hold anything back this time.
The 16.25 inch barrel is fluted for weight savings and heat dissipation, chrome-lined for long service life, and threaded 5/8×24 so swapping muzzle devices takes minutes. Century tops it with their US Chevron compensator, which does a nice job keeping the muzzle flat during quick strings. Up front you get a US Palm free-float M-LOK handguard paired with an Ultimak gas tube rail, so mounting a red dot low over the bore or adding lights and grips is straightforward. Free-floating the barrel on an AK is not something you see every day, and it pays off in consistency.
The trigger is Century's RAK-1 enhanced flat-faced unit, a genuine upgrade over the gritty pulls that plague budget AKs. Out back, a Magpul DT carbine stock rides on an AR-15 mil-spec buffer tube, so you can adjust length of pull on the fly or swap in any mil-spec stock you prefer. Underneath it all is the same long-stroke gas piston system that made the Kalashnikov famous for running in mud, dust, and neglect.
Chambered in 7.62x39mm, the MB47 ships with one 30-round detachable magazine and runs the full spectrum of surplus and commercial ammo the cartridge is known for.
