The Carlson's White Wing Dove Improved Modified choke is a dove-specific tube designed to help you connect on birds that flare wide or come screaming through at range. It's cut to a .700 constriction and threaded for 12 gauge Benelli Crio and Crio Plus shotguns, so it drops right into the guns a lot of wingshooters are already carrying to the field.
The standout here is Carlson's Triple Shot Technology, or TST. This internal design reduces pellet deformation as the shot passes through the tube, which translates to denser patterns and fewer flyers escaping the core. For doves, where you're often taking longer pokes at fast, dodgy targets, a tighter and more consistent pattern gives you a real edge over a factory tube. The improved modified constriction leans toward extended range work, making it the choice when birds are keeping their distance rather than piling into the decoys.
This choke is machined from 17-4 stainless steel, the same tough material Carlson's uses across their lineup, so it holds up to hard use and repeated cleanings. This tube is threaded for the Benelli Crio and Crio Plus 12 gauge choke system. If your barrel is stamped Crio or Crio Plus, it's a direct fit. Double-check your barrel markings before ordering, since Benelli also uses the Mobil thread pattern on some older models.
It handles lead, steel, Hevi-Shot, and TSS, so you've got room to run your preferred dove loads or switch to non-toxic where it's required. That flexibility is one of the reasons it's a solid all-around dove tube. As with any choke, patterning your specific load on paper first is the smart move.
The Decoy version is a light modified constriction meant for closer birds working into range. This Extended Range model is an improved modified tube, so it throws a tighter pattern built for doves keeping their distance. If you're taking longer pokes on high, fast birds, the IM is the one you want.
The porting vents gas as the shot leaves the barrel, which helps reduce felt recoil and muzzle jump. You'll notice it most during a high-volume dove shoot where the shots add up quickly. It also helps you get back on target faster for follow-up birds.
