The slide comes milled for direct mounting a micro red dot with full co-witness through the irons, so you will not need an adapter plate to run an optic. The MC9 slide is cut for micro red dots that use the Shield RMSc footprint, which covers popular options like the Shield RMSc, Holosun 507K and 407K, and similar compact optics. The optic mounts directly to the slide with no adapter plate needed. The iron sights are set up for full co-witness through most micro dots.
No, this version does not have an external thumb safety. It relies on internal safeties along with a trigger safety, so it carries and draws like most modern striker fired pistols. Canik does offer other MC9 configurations if a manual safety is a must for you.
