If you own a Lead Sled Solo or Solo 2, you already know the whole system works better with weight in the tray. The catch is that lead shot gets expensive and heavy to lug around. This Caldwell reservoir gives you a smarter way to load up. It's a collapsible ballast bag with a leakproof bladder tucked inside a tough 600D Cordura nylon shell, and it drops right into the weight tray. Fill it at the range from a spigot or jug, shoot, then pour it out and go home light.
The wide-mouth opening makes filling painless whether you're using water, sand, or gravel. Topped off with water it runs right around 14 pounds, and sand pushes it closer to 22 pounds if you want more mass in the tray. That weight, working with the sled's spring-loaded frame, is what soaks up the recoil and keeps your crosshairs settled between shots. It's a clean setup for sighting in magnum rifles or heavy-kicking shotguns without beating up your shoulder.
Cordura nylon is the same material you'll find on good range bags and hunting packs, so this thing holds up to being tossed in a truck bed and dragged across the bench. When the day's done, the collapsible design folds down flat and stores out of the way. A lot of folks like keeping water as their fill of choice because cleanup is nothing more than a dump and a rinse.
This reservoir is built specifically for the Lead Sled Solo and Solo 2 trays, so it seats correctly and won't slide around. If you've been running loose bags of shot or improvising with barbell plates, swapping to a purpose-built reservoir cleans up the whole rest and makes setup a two-minute job.
The wide-mouth opening lets you use water, sand, or gravel depending on how much weight you want in the tray. Water tops it out around 14 pounds and is the easiest to empty, while sand brings it closer to 22 pounds for more recoil control. A lot of people keep water at the range for the quick fill and dump-and-rinse cleanup.
Yes. It's designed to seat in the weight tray of both the Lead Sled Solo and the Solo 2, so it fits without sliding around. If you have one of those rests, this is the reservoir made for it.
Lead shot works, but it's expensive and heavy to carry in and out of the range. The reservoir lets you fill on site with water or sand, then empty it so you're not hauling dead weight back to the truck. It also folds flat for storage, which loose bags don't do.
No, this listing is for the reservoir only, not the shooting rest. It's an accessory for people who already own a Lead Sled Solo or Solo 2 and want a filled ballast bag for the weight tray.
