Break it open, drop in a shell up to 3 inches, snap it shut, and you are ready. This version of the 101 is clearly built with spring gobblers in mind. The barrel is threaded for Beretta/Benelli Mobil choke tubes and ships with an MC-1 XX-Full choke installed, which is about as tight as it gets for stacking pellets into a turkey's head and neck at range. Up front you get a fiber optic sight that grabs light well in dim timber, and the receiver wears a Picatinny rail so mounting a red dot takes minutes instead of a gunsmith visit. Checkered panels on the stock and forend give you a solid grip with cold or wet hands, and sling studs come standard for the walk in.
Swap the choke and this little 12 gauge covers a lot of ground. A modified or improved cylinder tube turns it into a handy small game and squirrel gun, and the short barrel makes it a natural truck or cabin gun too. It is also a great teaching tool. Yes, and it is one of the best features on this gun. The receiver has a Picatinny rail built right on top, so a red dot or small scope bolts on with standard rail mounts. That pairs nicely with the tight XX-Full choke for precise aiming on turkeys.
It does. The 3-inch chamber accepts both 2-3/4 inch and 3-inch 12 gauge loads. Keep in mind this is a light gun at around 5 pounds, so heavy magnum turkey loads will have some bite to them. Many folks pattern with magnums and practice with lighter field loads.
