The Browning A5 MOOSG is built around one job: keeping up with you through long seasons, cold mornings, and wet conditions. Wrapped head to toe in Mossy Oak Original Shadow Grass camouflage, this 12 gauge semi-auto features Browning's Kinematic Drive system, a short-recoil operating design that harnesses the energy of each shot to cycle the action. Unlike gas-operated systems, no gases are diverted through the action, which keeps things cleaner and simpler over time. The 3.5" chamber opens up your full range of 12 gauge loads, from light field rounds to the heaviest goose shells you can find.
The aluminum alloy receiver carries the signature humpback profile that made the original Auto-5 famous, but it does more than look nostalgic. The raised rear of the receiver flows right into the rib, extending your sight plane and making it easier to get on birds quickly without consciously lining up your eye. Add a fiber optic front bead and an ivory mid-bead, and you have a fast, intuitive sight picture whether you're swinging on decoying mallards or catching geese on a crossing shot. The back-bored Vector Pro barrel with its lengthened forcing cone rounds out a barrel system designed to squeeze better patterns out of every shell you feed it.
The composite stock runs the Mossy Oak Shadow Grass finish all the way through, with a vertical pistol grip and textured surfaces that give you a solid hold even with wet gloves. It is shim-adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop, and ships with 1/4" and 1/2" spacers so you can dial in the fit without a gunsmith. The Inflex II recoil pad does real work with this one, especially when you start running 3.5" shells through it. Three Invector-DS flush choke tubes come in the box covering Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, and Browning backs the whole gun with a 100,000-round or five-year guarantee.
The A5 in this configuration has a 3.5" chamber, so it will run 2-3/4", 3", and 3-1/2" shells. The Kinematic Drive system is designed to cycle all of those reliably without any manual adjustment, which is one of its biggest advantages over gas-operated guns that can be pickier about load changes.
Yes. The composite stock comes with a shim kit that lets you adjust length of pull, cast, and drop to better match your body and shooting style. The gun ships with both 1/4" and 1/2" spacers, so most shooters can get a comfortable, repeatable mount without needing custom work done.
This A5 ships with three Invector-DS flush choke tubes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. The Invector-DS system uses a double-seal brass band that compresses against the barrel threads to keep debris out and make installation and removal cleaner and easier than most competing choke systems.
The Kinematic Drive is a short-recoil inertia system, meaning it uses the energy from each fired shell to cycle the bolt rather than tapping gas from the barrel. Because no gas is routed through the action, the internals stay significantly cleaner. The tradeoff is that it generally transfers a bit more felt recoil than a gas gun, though the A5's Inflex II pad does a solid job managing that.
It handles 3.5" shells reliably, and the 3.5" chamber combined with the 26" barrel makes it a capable goose gun. That said, running heavy 3.5" loads all day does produce noticeable recoil, even with the Inflex II pad. For hunters who want to shoot a lot of those big shells, a 28" barrel might help with swing and balance, but the 26" is a solid option for most field and pit situations.
Yes, Browning includes a protective ABS hard case with the A5 Camo models. It keeps the gun protected during transport and storage, and it's sturdy enough for regular use getting to and from the field.
