The 1911-22 runs on straight blowback operation, which means it needs a reasonable amount of gas pressure to cycle reliably. Standard and high-velocity .22 LR loads from quality brands like CCI work well. Very low-power loads such as subsonic specialty rounds or CB caps may not generate enough energy to cycle the action consistently.
Crushed Orchid is a rich, vibrant purple-toned finish that covers the aluminum alloy slide. Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating widely used in the firearms industry for its excellent resistance to corrosion, wear, and scratching, so this isn't just a cosmetic touch. It holds up well under regular range use.
Browning advises against dry firing the 1911-22. Like most rimfire pistols, repeated dry firing without a snap cap can potentially damage the firing pin over time. If you want to practice trigger work at home, use quality rimfire snap caps to protect the action.
Because the 1911-22 Compact is built to 85% of full-size 1911 proportions, it won't fit standard full-size 1911 holsters properly. It's sized closer to a compact or Officer-size 1911 footprint, and it pairs well with holsters cut for that platform. Verify the fit before purchasing, since sizing varies between holster makers.
