Description

The Citori has been earning its keep in duck blinds and on skeet fields for half a century, and this version finally gives it furniture that shrugs off the weather. Instead of walnut, the Citori Composite wears a black synthetic stock and forearm with rubber overmolding at the grip and forend, so your hands stay planted when the morning turns wet or your palms get sweaty on station four. Composite also let Browning slim down the grip dimensions for a wider range of hand sizes, and it trims real weight. With 28 inch barrels this gun comes in around 7.4 pounds, noticeably lighter than comparable walnut-stocked Citoris.

Same Citori Guts Underneath

Nothing about the action got watered down. You still get the engraved blued steel receiver, full-width steel hinge pin, and tapered locking bolt that have made the Citori one of the most trusted over/unders ever built. The barrels feature chrome-lined chambers, Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones, and back-bored Total Barrel Dynamics for smoother patterns and softer felt recoil. Three Invector-Plus chokes come standard in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, which covers everything from decoying ducks to crossing clays without buying a thing.

A Citori You Can Fit to Your Face

The adjustable comb is a genuinely useful touch at this price point. A few turns of an Allen screw raises or lowers your cheek weld until the floating vent rib, mid-bead, and ivory front bead line up naturally, and the 60/40 point of impact splits the difference nicely between field and target work. An Inflex II recoil pad soaks up the thump from 3 inch loads, and the tang safety with barrel selector sits right where your thumb expects it.

Where the Citori Composite Shines

This is the Citori for people who shoot rain or shine. Waterfowlers who hate babying wood in a flooded timber hole, sporting clays regulars who want one gun for practice and hunting, or anyone who wants Browning's proven break action without worrying about scratches and swelling. It handles like a Citori should, it just cleans up with a wipe of a rag.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Browning Citori Composite handle steel shot for waterfowl?

Yes. The barrels are built with Browning's Total Barrel Dynamics, including back-boring and Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones, and the Invector-Plus choke system is rated for steel shot. With 3 inch chambers and a weather-resistant composite stock, it's well suited to duck and goose hunting. Just follow standard practice and avoid running steel through the Full choke at full constriction.

How does the adjustable comb on the Citori Composite work?

The comb adjusts for height using an Allen screw accessed through the top of the recoil pad. Raising or lowering it changes how your eye lines up with the rib, so you can dial in a natural sight picture without shims or gunsmith work. It ships in the lowest position, so plan on a few minutes of adjustment when you first pattern the gun.

Is the Citori Composite lighter than a wood-stocked Citori?

It is. With 28 inch barrels the Composite weighs about 7 pounds 6 ounces, which is roughly 11 ounces lighter than a Citori CX with the same barrel length. That's a noticeable difference on a long walk through pheasant country, while still keeping enough weight up front for a smooth swing on clays.

Is this gun better for hunting or clay sports?

It's set up to do both well. The 60/40 point of impact, 28 inch barrels, and included Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder chokes cover field hunting, skeet, and sporting clays. The composite furniture just makes it the pick for people who shoot in rough weather and don't want to fuss over a walnut stock.
