The .30-06 Springfield has been putting meat in the freezer for over a century, and the X-Bolt 2 Hunter Composite Stainless is a fitting modern home for it. Browning rebuilt the X-Bolt action for this second generation with added bolt guidance surface, so cycling is noticeably smoother and faster than the original, and the spiral-fluted bolt wears a silver nitride finish that shrugs off moisture. Pair that with a matte stainless receiver and stainless 22 inch sporter contour barrel, and you have a rifle that will not flinch at a week of rain in elk camp.
The black composite Vari-Tech stock is the standout feature here. Length of pull adjusts to match your frame and your layers, the comb raises to line your eye up behind a scope, and the grip modules swap out so you can run a more vertical or relaxed angle depending on how you shoot. Gray overmolded grip panels keep things secure with cold or wet hands, and the 1.25 inch Inflex II recoil pad takes real sting out of the ought-six. The DLX trigger comes set around 3.5 pounds and is user adjustable, breaking clean with no creep to fight through.
The muzzle is threaded M13x0.75 and ships with a stainless radial brake installed plus a thread protector for when you want to run it bare. A 1:10 twist stabilizes the full range of .30-06 bullet weights, from light deer loads up to heavy 220 grain stuff. The free-floated barrel and bedded action support consistent accuracy, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped for Browning's X-Lock mount system, so getting glass on it is quick. Feeding comes from a detachable 4-round rotary magazine, and the top tang safety with bolt unlock button lets you cycle rounds safely with the safety engaged. At around 7 pounds bare, it carries well all day without beating you up at the bench.
The biggest changes are the redesigned receiver with additional bolt guidance surface for smoother, faster cycling and the new Vari-Tech stock with adjustable length of pull, adjustable comb, and swappable grip modules. The X-Bolt 2 also gets a spiral-fluted bolt with a reshaped handle and knob, plus the adjustable DLX trigger. It keeps the rotary magazine and tang safety the original was known for.
Yes, the muzzle is threaded M13x0.75, and the included radial brake spins off so you can attach a suppressor with the correct thread pitch or an adapter. A thread protector is also included if you prefer to run the bare muzzle. Just confirm your can or mount matches the metric threading before you head out.
No iron sights or rail are included. The receiver comes drilled and tapped for Browning's X-Lock scope mounting system, which uses four screws per base for a very secure hold. You will want to pick up X-Lock bases and rings or a compatible rail to mount your optic.
