The result is a break action that swings like a proper double but doesn't make you wince when it gets rained on.
That low receiver profile does more than look sleek. It puts your hands closer to the bore line, which tames muzzle flip and makes the gun feel quicker between targets than its 7 pound 8 ounce weight would suggest. The Reverse Striker ignition is mechanical rather than inertia-driven, so the second barrel fires no matter what, and it delivers a crisp break with very little overtravel. Impact ejectors kick spent hulls clear so reloads stay fast when birds are cupped and committed.
The 3.5-inch chambers open the door to full-power goose loads, and the long-travel Inflex recoil pad soaks up a surprising amount of the punishment they dish out. The 28-inch barrels feature Browning's back-bored Total Barrel Dynamics with Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones and a fully chromed bore, all of which help pattern quality with steel shot and make cleanup easier. Three extended Invector-Plus banded choke tubes come in the box, Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, covering decoying birds to pass shooting.
An adjustable comb and included quarter-inch stock spacer let you tune the sight picture and length of pull to your build and your hunting layers. Yes, the chambers accept everything up to 3.5-inch magnum shells, and it shoots 2.75 and 3-inch loads just as happily. The long-travel Inflex recoil pad does a solid job taking the sting out of heavy goose loads, and at around 7.5 pounds the gun has enough heft to stay comfortable. The adjustable comb also helps keep your face planted correctly, which reduces felt recoil to the cheek.
Instead of small trunnion pins, the MonoLock hinge integrates the monoblock and hinge into one unit with far more pivot surface area. That extra contact area spreads out wear for long-term durability and allows the ultra-low receiver profile the Cynergy is known for. The lower bore axis puts your hands closer to the barrels, which helps reduce muzzle flip and makes the gun swing quickly.
It was designed around it. The back-bored barrels with Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones are built with steel shot performance in mind, and the included extended Invector-Plus chokes are rated for steel. The bore is also fully chrome plated, so corrosion from wet hunts and modern nontoxic loads is much less of a worry.
The Cynergy uses Browning's Reverse Striker mechanical trigger, so the second barrel fires even if the first shell fails to go off. That is a real advantage on a hunting gun compared to inertia triggers that rely on recoil to set the second shot. Pull weights run in the 4.5 to 5 pound range with a crisp break and minimal overtravel, plus a very fast lock time.
