Most factory charging handles are an afterthought, and you feel it every time you run your rifle hard. The Breek Arms Warhammer Micro MOD2 fixes that with a truly ambidextrous design that lets you rack the bolt from either side of the receiver. It drops right into any mil-spec AR-15 or M16 upper with no tools and no gunsmithing, so you can have it running in a couple of minutes.
What sets the Micro version apart is the latch. The total latch width comes in at 2.40 inches, slightly wider than standard but with a low, trimmed-down profile that keeps things slick. Those smaller latches are the whole point here. If you shoot around barriers, run a two-point sling, or wear a plate carrier and chest rig, the Micro latches stay out of the way and dramatically cut down on snagging. Textured grooves cut into each latch give you solid purchase whether you're bare-handed or wearing thick gloves.
The MOD2 update is really about your face. Relief cuts on the top and bottom of the stem help vent excess gas out to the sides instead of straight back at you, and the raised rear ledge covers more of the upper to block whatever tries to sneak through. If you run a suppressor or a short-barreled setup, you already know how much gas blowback matters, and these little changes add up to a noticeably more comfortable string of fire.
The whole handle, body and latches alike, is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and wears a Type III hard-coat anodized finish, so it holds up to hard use and looks the part. It weighs next to nothing, so you're not adding any real heft to your rifle. Breek Arms also backs the Warhammer with a lifetime replacement policy, which tells you they stand behind the build. The Micro uses smaller, lower-profile latches with a total width of 2.40 inches, while the standard Warhammer runs larger set-back latches. The Micro is the better pick if you shoot around barriers, run a sling, or wear gear, since the slimmer latches are far less likely to snag. If you prioritize the largest possible grip surface, the standard version has more real estate.
It does help. The relief cuts on the top and bottom of the stem vent excess gas out to the sides, and the raised rear ledge covers more of the upper receiver to block gas heading straight back. It makes the biggest difference on suppressed and short-barreled builds where blowback is more noticeable.
The Micro latch has a low, trimmed profile that clears most setups without issue. That said, if you run a rear backup sight or optic mounted very close behind the charging handle, measure your clearance first, since the Micro sits a touch differently than a full-size latch. For most standard optic placements you'll be fine.
