The Rowdy is Bond Arms' answer to a simple question: what if you took the same stainless steel derringer they've been building in Texas for years and skipped the hours of hand polishing? What you get is a tough, matte-finished two-shooter that chambers .45 Colt or 2.5 inch .410 shotshells in either barrel, and does it with all the mechanical features Bond is known for. Load two of one, two of the other, or mix and match, which is a big part of why these little guns end up in tackle boxes, ranch trucks, and waistbands all over the country.
Don't let the bead blasted finish fool you. The Rowdy uses the exact same grade of stainless steel as Bond's polished models, frame and double barrel alike. The barrels and trigger still get polished, and the whole package includes Bond's patented rebounding hammer, retracting firing pins, a crossbolt safety, an automatic spent casing extractor, and a spring loaded cammed locking lever. The visible parting lines and tool marks are part of the character, and plenty of owners prefer the rugged look anyway.
With a 3 inch barrel, 5 inch overall length, and roughly 20 ounces of heft, this thing disappears in a pocket but has enough weight to keep recoil manageable. The rubber grips soak up what's left, and the blade front and fixed rear sights keep aiming dead simple at close range. A .410 shell full of shot makes it a favorite for snake duty on the trail or around the property, while .45 Colt gives it real thump when you want it.
Here's the part that makes Bond derringers such a smart buy: the Rowdy accepts all standard Bond Arms barrels. Pick up a barrel in 9mm, .38 Special/.357 Magnum, or another chambering down the road and swap it onto this same frame in minutes. It's a single action, break open design that's about as straightforward to run and maintain as a firearm gets, which is exactly the point.
Yes, and that's the whole appeal. Both chambers accept either .45 Colt or .410 shotshells, so you can load two of the same or one of each. Keep in mind the chambers are cut for 2.5 inch .410 shells, so 3 inch shotshells will not fit.
They are. The Rowdy is built on the standard Bond Arms frame, so it accepts the full lineup of standard Bond Arms barrels in other calibers and lengths. That means one frame can eventually run 9mm, .38/.357, and more just by swapping barrels.
Mechanically, it isn't. It uses the same grade of stainless steel and the same internals, including the rebounding hammer and retracting firing pins. Bond simply skips the extensive hand polishing and gives it a bead blasted finish instead, which cuts labor time and gives it a rougher, work-gun look.
It's one of the most popular uses for this gun. A .410 shell loaded with shot out of the 3 inch barrel is well suited to close-range pest and snake duty, and at 5 inches long it stows easily in a pack, tackle box, or UTV. The 20 ounce stainless build also shrugs off outdoor wear better than lighter alloy guns.
