There's a reason the Ranger II sits near the top of the Bond Arms lineup. This single action break-open two shot is CNC machined from stainless steel with a brushed finish, and the fit between the barrels and frame is tight enough that you feel it every time the spring-loaded locking lever cams shut. The 4.25 inch over/under barrels handle .45 Colt or .410 shotshells up to 3 inches, and that flexibility is the whole appeal. Load a shotshell up top and a hard-hitting .45 Colt below, or run two of either. At about 23.5 ounces with a 6.25 inch overall length, it rides light for something with this much bark.
The extended black ash grips are the big story here. Most derringers give you two fingers and a prayer, but the Ranger II's longer grip lets your whole hand settle in, which matters a lot when you touch off a 3 inch shell. Each panel wears a brushed stainless star inlay, and since it's real wood, no two sets look quite alike. You also get a rebounding hammer, retracting firing pins, and a crossbolt safety layered together, plus an automatic extractor to kick out spent hulls when you break the action open. A removable trigger guard comes installed, and the blade front and notched rear sights are machined right into the barrel.
Like every Bond Arms pistol, the Ranger II uses the patented interchangeable barrel system. Pull one screw and you can swap to nearly any other Bond barrel, from 9mm to .357 Magnum, which turns this into several guns living in one frame.
Bond doesn't make you hunt for a way to carry it. The included black leather driving holster is a molded cross-draw rig with white stitching, a quick-release thumb break, and a hook-and-loop attachment that fits belts up to 1.75 inches. It's a genuinely nice piece of leather, not a throw-in, and the star on it matches the grips. Made in Granbury, Texas, and built like it.
Yes. The Ranger II has 3 inch chambers, so it runs both 2.5 inch and 3 inch .410 shotshells along with standard .45 Colt loads. You can even mix them, with a shotshell in one barrel and a .45 Colt in the other.
You can. Bond Arms builds all its derringers around a patented interchangeable barrel system, and the Ranger II frame accepts nearly the entire lineup of Bond barrels. Swapping takes one screw and a couple of minutes, so a single frame can cover everything from 9mm to .357 Magnum.
