BOG built the DeathGrip Bantam for the hunter who covers ground and doesn't want to feel every extra ounce on the walk in. It carries the same DeathGrip clamping system that made the original a favorite, but it trims the aluminum legs down to a package that tips the scale at right around 3 pounds. That puts it noticeably lighter than most competing shooting tripods, which matters when it's riding on your pack alongside a rifle, decoy, and the rest of your gear.
The heart of this thing is the dual-action clamping head. It grabs your firearm and holds it steady with no hands on the gun, freeing you up to glass, call, or just wait out a shot. Non-marring rubber inserts do the gripping, so the finish on your rifle stays put and the metal stays quiet against the clamp. The head handles up to 40 pounds, which covers just about any rifle, crossbow, or shotgun you'd want to rest on it.
Height runs from 20 to 42 inches, which puts you in the sweet spot for sitting and kneeling positions out of a blind or low cover. The twist leg locks let you adjust each leg quietly and independently, so leveling up on a hillside or rocky ground is quick work. Once you're set, the head gives you 360 degrees of pan and 120 degrees of tilt to track a moving animal or settle onto a steep angle without repositioning the legs.
Rubber feet add traction and cut down on noise, and a rubber leg retention strap keeps everything bundled tight for the walk. The aluminum build shrugs off weather and rough handling, and cleanup is about as simple as wiping it down. If you like running an Arca-Swiss setup, aftermarket adapters are widely available to swap in your own quick-release plates for optics or a ball head.
